Event information
Learn how Dive La Trobe is helping Samantha Melrose (Melrose) a PhD researcher in the Humbert Laboratory at the La Trobe Institute for Molecular Science, by placing taps under piers in Victoria to collect Trichoplax adhaerens (one of Earth’s oldest animals).
Melrose is working at the intersection of space biology, biochemistry, and molecular genetics, using Trichoplax to study the effects microgravity and cosmic radiation have on intestinal epithelial function, regeneration, and death.
I have heard they are even sending he trichoplax to space???
Come to the club on Thursday night and hear all about this cutting edge research and how you can get involved.
